Type Locality and Naming

Along the village of Ravat, South Fergana. U.M. Rasulov, G. Fathullaev, S.D. Morozov et al., 1991. Stratotype in the area of the Kyzylpilyal village. The term is not used.

Synonym: Ravat Suite, Раватская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Tobacco-green clays, gray siltstone (aleurolites) with brown spots. Thickness up to 30 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It lies conformably on the Goznau Fm

Upper contact

It is also conformably overlain by the Sulyuktin Fm.

Regional extent

South Fergana. To the west of the Suljukty region, it transitions into the sandstones of the Sulyuktin Fm. It is correlated with the lower parts of the Givar Fm of Southwest Gissar (with layers of Acarinina tadjikstanensis, Acarinina subsphaerica).

In the clays, foraminifers - Trochammina ispharensis N. Byk., T. suljuktensis N. Byk., Gaudryina ossipovae N. Byk., G. kurusaensis N. Byk., Rephax suzakensis N. Byk., Recurvoides gracilis N. Byk., Cibicides succedens Brotz.
